CELEBRATING NSM WITH HEART
Lots of heart went into bringing the idea of a showcase of "everything skating" event to reality In celebration of National Skating Month recently.  The IMFSC team brought
to Perani Arena & Event Center a bit of ice skating history, music, dancing, spirit and power...and all for a good cause.

A BIT ABOUT THE CAUSE
Friends of Genesee County Animal Shelter (GCAS) members are animal lovers from Genesee County and the surrounding area.  Their mission is to improve the quality of life for shelter animals and reduce the kill rate at the Genesee County Animal Control/Shelter through adoption, rescue and foster care.
"I had Anna with me, a little brown 7 month old pup," stated Becki Wolf Williams, Founder of Friends of GCAS...

"We did have a great time, met some wonderful people and that is what I was hoping for.  To spread the news about adoption and inform is just as important as finding good homes."

WORKING TOGETHER
National Skating Month, now in its twelfth year, will allow 700 member clubs and over 1,000 registered Basic Skills skating schools to reach out to new members in their region by bringing excitement to the sport. In its first four years, the program was National Skating Week, but it was expanded to allow clubs additional time to promote the sport to new skaters. Skaters and teams that took part in IMFSC's charitable event represented clubs within the Burton, Bloomfield Hills, Troy, Birmingham & Hartland areas...and let's not forget to mention Ronald McDonald was part of the show too!
PROUD OF OUR SKATERS
"Skate Midland" was the Michigan Basic Skills Series competition which ended the 2012 season for skaters.  We are proud to announce that our Ice Mountain FSC team efforts resulted in 2nd place with a season total of 580 points.  Competing for his first time, Brennan Arias was the overall 1st place winner in Basic 1 Elements and 2nd place winner in Basic 1 Freeskate series.  Rebecca Doering shared a 3rd place standing in Basic 6 Elements and 3rd place in Basic 6 Freeskate.  A very young Adriana Callahan swept the No Test Series with two 1st place standings in both Compulsory and Freeskate.

Additional skaters from IMFSC who ended the season with "great skates" in Midland included Ariane Francoeur and Miranda Gipson.  Both Ariane and Miranda skated beautifully in Basic 3 and Beginner Compulsory Moves and Test Track, respectively.

We are very proud of our skaters who have weathered the storm of our home rink closing...and who continue to
Live. Love. Skate.
